The District, Boyer’s new 120-acre development, is also quickly becoming a popular retail location for the residents of South Jordan and the surrounding communities. The District includes theatres, restaurants, and retail facilities unique to the Salt Lake Area. It is one of the largest mixed-use development of its kind in Utah. To the west of The District, The Boyer Company has just finished the first phase of its new residential development, Jordan Heights. Jordan Heights, with its great views of the valley and surrounding mountains, is an ideal location for those desiring to use their own builder. Lots range from .15 acres to .40 acres with prices starting at $149,000.
The Boyer Company recently sought out an unused sand and gravel pit to develop Quarry Bend, a 107-acre site in the growing Sandy Area. This development uses an innovative design that employs “Smart Growth” principles and walkable community concepts including park-like amenities, open space, and walking and biking paths. Quarry Bend is providing a way for existing Sandy businesses to expand and continue to serve their customers in this mixed-use development that will include homes, condominiums, apartments, small shops and restaurants. Two of Quarry Bend’s anchors are a Wal-Mart Superstore, and a Lowe’s Home Improvement store.
Other recent projects include the continuing mixed-use development at The Gateway in Downtown Salt Lake, a medical office building at the Jordan Valley Hospital in West Jordan, the Redstone shopping center in Park City – 220,000 square feet of open-air development uniting retail, office and residential – and a retail development called Draper Peaks in Draper. The Boyer Company has also received approval from the city of Los Alamos, New Mexico, to begin development of a 42-acre mixed-use project called The Trinity Place.
Finally, Fidelity Investments recently relocated to a 227,000 office building, built to suit, at the Gateway. Morgan Stanley will occupy 65 percent of the 100,000 square foot Jordan Valley Tech Center. Meanwhile, the Veterans Administration is working on a project to utilize land for a privatization development. The Boyer Company also recently began a privatization project on Hill Air Force Base. Boyer Hill Military (BHMH) secured $41 million in bond financing and an additional $33.6 million in a Government Direct Loan to fund a six-year development plan that will rebuild, renovate, and upgrade over 1,000 homes at Hill Air Force Base.
“We don’t think of our business as just a real estate company. We think of our business as meeting the needs of people and trying to create a better environment.”
Steve Ostler, CEO of The Boyer Company
