Boyer Healthcare Properties worked with local and corporate hospital representatives at HCA to identify and create a plan that provided physicians the opportunity for condominium ownership while preserving the interests of the hospital.

Boyer was selected to develop the building based on our successful development track record with HCA and other long-time hospital clients.  Fifty-eight condominium units were created through a series of platting requirements by the City of San Jose.  The condominium units range in size from 1,100 square feet to 4,150 square feet.

Arizona Orthopedic Hospital

Arizona Orthopedic Hospital and Offices

Boyer Healthcare Properties was selected through a competitive RFP process based on our vast experience with surgical facilities and our ability to get the best financing on what was then viewed as little-known, high-risk development. Boyer worked closely with the physicians and their partners (United Surgical Partners and Catholic Healthcare West) to select the site and building design. By using creative building materials and a single-story layout, we created a facility that is functional, beautiful, and very cost-effective. This building received design awards from both the city and the local chapter of NAIOP; the surgical hospital portion was completed at total build-out cost of $190 per square foot. In addition, 40,000 square feet of office space was built adjacent to the hospital, allowing the physicians to perform surgeries within a few feet of their clinical office space. Today the facility is very successful and is beginning the first phase of expansion to accommodate growing demand.

Huntsman Cancer Institute

Huntsman Cancer Institute

The Huntsman Cancer Institute, located on the southeast corner of the University of Utah Campus, consists of 217,000 square-feet.  The Cancer Institute was dedicated in September 1999.

The six-story stone veneer and glass building provides research, clinical and informational services for cancer patients.  The Boyer Company was the developer and project manager for the University of Utah and Huntsman Corporation.  The Boyer Company was also responsible for all aspects of the design, budgets, construction, and scheduling.
The facility includes a Cancer Learning Center, a Patient Care Center, three floors of research and laboratories, a restaurant and a 300-seat auditorium.  It also has a multimedia room, a library and an educational exhibit.
