The Foxglove Shopping Center was developed at a time when transportation infrastructure and residential growth of Farmington had not occurred to any meaningful level. However, there was a need for a supermarket in the community. The Boyer Company acquired the site on the condition that Smith's Food & Drug become an anchor tenant. They agreed, but required fee ownership of their parcel. The remaining approximately 21,000 square feet of retail space included about 18,000 square feet of retail inline shops and a free standing restaurant pad. Boyer used a significant amount of Farmington stone for the architectural features in the project. The Foxglove Shopping Center represents almost the only retail sales tax generator for the City of Farmington, other than the Lagoon Amusement Park.
